Zoomanity & i-Consumption

Rick is the kind of guy you really don't want to get into an eating competition with after all at just under 500 pounds in weight, he'll take more than a bit of beating. In one serving Rick is proud to announce he can eat 9 fat dripping double burgers, 12 protein packed eggs, two large bottles of sugar laced coke and that's just to start with. It wasn't always like that of course, at one time Rick would eat a meal just like anyone, average servings, average foods, average everything. One day Rick discovered foods that hadn't been tasted before. They appeared to have more flavor and yet in a strange way, more addictive. One burger went to two, two went to four and four went to eight. The volumes just grew along with the regularity of the foods.    It was now un-official, Rick was addicted to foods and the worst kind of foods at that. This of course would lead to weight gain, bad health, social restrictions. At 33 Rick couldn't leave the house due to his weight. His weight was now giving him heart problems, the heart problems held Rick in fear and his fears were now being subdued by even more food. At 500 pounds, stuck to a bed, addicted to food and literally rotting on his bed some would see him, speak to him and stared at him asking    how does that happen?” Let me bring this back to you. Have you ever eaten junk foods that are salt packed, sugar packed or clearly over-flavored? I know I have and the clever thing with these foods is this; you rarely feel satisfied after eating them. Yet not only are they over-done they are also designed that way. They are designed to create cravings and create addictions. Scientists report that there are certain foods and food additives that have a similar affect on the body and the mind as do hard drugs like cocaine and heroin. The food manufacturers know this. They convince us through good marketing that good taste equals good foods when in fact, better than better taste can often mean the food is laced with addictive ingredients. I wonder, is the age of i-Consumer built and perfectly designed the same way? How much can a person buy and actually enjoy? Christmas is such a great example of many of these things in action. Marketing, feeding frenzy of mass desires. It starts very simple. The marketing starts to feed the mind. The mind is captivated as mostly the marketing feeds a most basic human desire. Hypnotic language and words creates an inner call to action on the consumer. Photographs are taken in a way that creates moments of pleasure. The consumer is then ready to consume and will do almost anything he can do get his fix. Loans, credit cards, borrowings and even selling older goods to replace with new goods, the wheel of consumption begin yet the reality is it never stops. The sellers plan their selling. Almost every additive substance, thought, desire is placed into the campaign. The addiction of the consumer begins. Here's a good example that even I have fallen for. Apple products are incredible yet look at the mass frenzy that is created during a new product launch. The iPhone 3gs or 4 worked perfectly well yes some would almost sell, steal or borrow to get the next generation of iPhone that does slightly more than the previous generation. Is this true? How about 17 old boy known as little Zheng who actually sold a kidney over the internet to get himself an iPad 2? He was more than pleased as the amount of cash he got for his kidney enabled him to get a new iPhone at the same time. Shocking I know. But the real question is why? The desires, the addictions, the tools of consumption are no accident. When you get a new car, one week later the new car is just a car. When you get a new computer one week later the new computer is just a computer. When you get a new set of clothes just days later they lie on the floor, over the chair on in a drawer is more clothes. And yet the desire for the next car, the next computer, the next set of clothing just never goes away, like the addictive substance of the hardest drug, once hooked, once hardwired, once on the endless journey of more the desire for more rarely is fulfilled. Rick above was not only addicted to food, he died from his addiction. It's a big ask of any human heart to carry 500 pounds of weight around. His addiction was a creation of the faster and faster i-Consumption society. Every bite carefully planned by those that understand addiction, the in-house scientists, the in-house psychologists, the marketing men, the accountants an of course the super healthy boss that would never dream of eating or feeding his kids such junk. The i-Consumer is measured in cash terms only. Get them addicted, get them spending regardless of the cost to human life. Yet is gets faster and faster and faster and even faster. The battle for what we NEED and what we WANT as never been fiercer. So this is a time, has to be a time where we look at ourselves. Are we living a life based on what we want? Does the life of want make us happy or are we unhappy because we don't have what we want whilst at the same time actually having everything we really need? I do wonder how the young Chinese guy will feel once the iPad3 comes out? Will he be willing to sell another part of his young body for an upgrade whilst at the same time downgrading his own health as the price? I do also wonder how Rick felt during his final days as death was closing in on him yet his mind still had the overwhelming thought for another processed burger meal being delivered to him secretly whilst in the hospital. Are you addicted to the i-Consumption way of life? If so history has delicately revealed to us that this addiction can never be fulfilled. If it can never be fulfilled you are facing a life of want and a life of want can never be suppressed until you get what you want. Just a thought! Zoomanity is a careful creation of mankind. Zoomanity has been designed to hook you, addict you and consume you. The life of the most of mankind has been boxed, caged and masterfully planned so that control is almost always the ultimate goal of Zoomanity. True? Do you question what you eat? Do you question what you want? Do you question your life? If food and consumption is addictive and carefully planned to be addictive what else in life has been planned the very same way? Think about it. Id love you to comment. Alan Forrest Smith Escape from Zoomanity the Book is now available at all reputable bookstores across the globe. Start your escape right now.
