Every family has one, most family resist them, they are the bridge. Before I explain let me share a small story. I have a small very old book Called 16 self sketches by George Bernard Shaw. It's a rare book, a small book but a very revealing book. George Bernard shaw was well known for more thing than most will know. I loved the self sketch in his book about him trying to be come and finally becoming a speaker. He tells his story relating on how his knees would tremble as he sat in religious society meetings waiting to debate or political party meetings as he sat nervously waiting for the debate to arrive in turn to him. But one small almost insignificant mention in his book reveals something about George Bernard Shaw. In his book he calls himself uninteresting so decides it would be better to write about others in his life that were interesting. One of these people is his eccentric uncle. He comes and goes with stories of life, of women, of adventure but mostly the kinds of stories young George would only hear from his Uncle. Some stories were said to be so strong the young George could only listen in secret as his uncle shared his adventures to others.Reading the book the uncle certainly was a rule breaker. He certainly took the family mold and expanded it. He certainly took his life and grew it into a booked packed with lust for life and adventure for discovery. George Bernard Shaw tells how this uncle he rarely saw became a huge influence in his life. George wanted and adventure a more open life, like his uncle. In other words his uncle became a bridge into a new way to live and experience. I just wonder have we all had that in life and how do we recognize that bridge as one to be crossed? Think about your life for a moment. Is it a typical representation of what is expected by others? Do you do what has always been done because that's 'how its done' Do you have a yearning for more life, more adventure, more expansion into your life? Can you look into your life and see a bridge? The bridge is the person, the things, the moment that leads to an ever expanding you. It takes a small life and creates a big life. It takes an ordinary moment and creates magic for you. It's a path of adventure that will carry you into brave new world, that will take you into a world jungle that needs some clearing, that needs a path beaten through. Looking back on my own life my mum was one of those bridges. She and dad picked up their young family, moved away from a stalemate life and smashed through into a brave new world in England from the poverty of Scotland. This became a bridge for opportunity, for new thinking, for a new way. The old way of mum and dads family had stopped working. It led to ill health, heart attacks and drunken lives in poverty. They walked out from it and created a bridge. The bridge sent the message that is was possible, it's all possible, it can be possible. That attitude left an indelible stamp on myself. How about you? Do you have someone in your life, in your family or just a person that has passed through now and then and left a huge stamp in your mind? Are these the bridge into a brave new way of thinking for you, you just don't see it just yet? To cross the bridge you need to be brave, you need to control your own life not be under the control of others. You need to thirst, desire, want adventure at a all-new level. If you cross it what is waiting? The bridge looks uncertain. The bridge looks even dangerous. The bridge looks unstable. Yet you want it. You may not know it, you may not think it, you may not see it right now but there is a bridge out there now and it's calling you closer each day. You can choose to ignore it and carry on as expected or you can take your first step right now and start to cross it? That's up to you of course. George Bernard Shaw became the man he became because he saw and crossed the bridge.WILL YOU?Published Author Alan Forrest Smith Escape from Zoomanity Volume 1, The Book Available from all online book stores.
