Highland Dream Maker

Meet Cameron. He is a dreamer. He is a doer.He is a highlander.Cameron is building a house made from trees, real trees, huge trees, not a weak mans log. This is the real thing.Let me explain. On a recent trip into the Highlands of Scotland my friend drove me past and immense wooden structure standing alone in the forest. I asked my friend to quickly pull over and stop. I got out and couldn't believe what I was looking at. It was a house built from trees, not small logs but massive full grown trees! I was intrigued to say the least. This was my dream home and clearly someone else's, I went to find out more. So I decided to walk down the lane into the forest to check out what was going on. As I walked down there was a work shed on the left, surrounded by chopped wood and tools. On the right was an even bigger shed where someone was clearly living. Directly ahead of me was what I can only describe a a herculean project that the photos I have supplied really don't do justice to. The closer I got the bigger the building appears. As I stood next to it, my head didn't reach the window sill on the outside. I spotted in the roofing what looked like a small guy wearing an rabbit skinned hat wearing jeans, a work belt and from the side of his mouth hung a self rolled cigarette you know the type that never gets smoked it just hangs there until the ash gets so heavy it drops off. I shouted up 'hello' and asked if I could speak with him? He climbed down the trees, approached me with a large smile on his face shook my hand, told me his name and welcomed me to his place. Strangely he was quite tall stood next to me, he just looked small standing in his giant tree house! So I asked him...What are you doing here, why build some thing so huge? His story went like this.I am a highlander. All my life I have been surrounded by trees. I work with trees, carefully prune them, make them healthy and remove them to make the forest healthy. There is no greater thing for a man than to be close to nature. So I asked Cameron, why are you building this then? He told me about his dreams to live in the trees, with the trees, breathing touching and being part of the trees daily. He told me his option was to live in a house built from the hands of another with the ideas of another made from materials that he couldn't relate to or didn't want to be near to or build his dream home. He went on to tell me that when working in the forest one day he had an idea while felling trees. You see he would fell the trees and then the trees would be removed and sold, chopped up and become a faceless piece of furniture in a faceless world. Cameron thought why not keep the trees in the forest, buy a plot of land, take the trees to the land and build a home that would last longer than any 'throw it up quick, cheap, love free house'.Now think about this. I am talking about FULL GROWN trees here. Not young trees. These things are massive. 100 to 150 foot long and I would say a couple of feet wide. Can you imagine picking that up or even trying to move it alone? As Cameron went on telling me his story he seemed to have overcome almost every kind of challenge faced before him and why?Because Cameron believe in dreams. It made me think, I mean really think. How many dreams in life do we have and give up on at the first hurdle? Why?Because there are too many things in the way.Because everyone says it's impossible.Because the first people we talk to say no we are crazy.Because no one else does it that way. And so on.Why do people react like that? They are dream destroyers. They don't do it on purpose but they only see life the way it has been set out for them. They are told what is best for them. They do what they are told always because they believe if they do their own thing that is rocking the boat and rocking the boat isn't a good thing. They will say to you... "just do what everyone does, it's easier"Yet they are living a life that is unfulfilled, lacking in and sense of self creation. Being one of the masses is the easy way and they make sure you know that. Yet we were made to dream but as children we were told off about 'day dreaming' told to be real and grow up, get a grip, stop dreaming. As adults were are told dreams are pure fantasy, they are for 'weird, strange' people.Dreams are for those that never achieve anything, you have to be real! You've heard that right? You've had that said to you?Yet look at Cameron. He had a dream. His dreams was to live in the trees. He faced massive obstacles to make it happen. Cameron is building his tree house alone, lifting and shifting trees on his own. Sounds impossible right? He bought a pice of highland forest and is now creating his reality. He is living proof that any dreams can become real if we BELEIVE in them. Yes not just try them, not just think about them but actually believe that they can happen.I spoke to Cameron, he was single focused, not only was he living his dream, he believed his dream could happen, it was happening for him. Not doing it was never an option for him. He has been building this home for years. It is jaw-dropping to see in real-life.How about you?Do you have a dream? Would you love your dream to become real? Do you think it ever could be real? One big question... you might have a big dream but do you BELIEVE? Dreams can become real. I myself am living proof of that. I have had many dreams that have become a reality. They are real, they are the start of you manifesting your deepest desire. If you truly, absolutely believe, your dreams can become a reality. Do you have an opinion on this. Let me know.Do you have an opinion on this?Let me know.Alan Forrest Smith
