I Am Bastard I Am War Moves Into Final Rehearsals Ahead of Altrincham Storytelling Festival

Flagship Altrincham Storytelling Festival Play Moves Into Final Rehearsals

The flagship production of the inaugural Altrincham Storytelling Festival has now entered its final rehearsal period ahead of its performance at Altrincham Town Hall at Oyez Art on 20 June, 2026.

I Am Bastard I Am War, written by the late Alan Forrest Smith, directed by Nigel Harvey and produced by Tamara Forrest-Smith, explores the human experience of war, unresolved seeds of conflict and its impact on ordinary people.

As preparations gather pace, the production is bringing together a range of creative talent and community groups. Alongside a professional cast, the production will feature artistic participation from members of the Altrincham Society of Artists and the Warrington BSL Signing Choir, with additional artistic collaborations to be revealed on the day.

The performance reflects one of the core ambitions behind the Altrincham Storytelling Festival - Creativity Revealed - to celebrate storytelling, artistic creativity and collaboration by bringing together writers, performers, artists and community groups.

"One of the aims of the festival was to reveal the creativity that exists within our communities. It has been wonderful to see artists, performers and community groups come together around this production and contribute their own unique voice to it."

Tamara Forrest-Smith

The performance takes place at 7.30pm on 20 June at Altrincham Town Hall at Oyez Art and will be followed by a panel discussion.
